We have many primrosos that often self-seed in less-

than-ideal positions.

One was growing under a thick evergreen shrub where it couldn't be seen, so I moved it to a more open setting where it can be appreciated.

■ Perennial plants are easy to move, as long as the ground is workable.

■ Water the plant well first, and dig its new hole, making sure it is deep and wide enough to take all the roots.

■ Lift the plant, keeping as much soil around the roots as possible.

■ Move it immediately to its new position, infill around it, and water. Don't let it dry out while it settles in.
